Final Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan (PCIP) Transition Information
Most of you who currently have a CA PCIP policy have already received an enrollment letter from the National Finance Center that includes instructions on how to enroll into the new Federal PCIP program effective July 1, 2013. From what we understand, letters are still being generated and everyone should have received their enrollment information by the end of next week. If you have not received this very important information by the end of next week, you need to contact the National Finance Center at (866) 717-5826.
Enrollment into the new Federal PCIP program is not automatic. You must follow the instructions carefully as outlined in your enrollment materials and remit payment to the Federal PCIP before the end of this month (JUNE). If you were on any kind of recurring payment plan with the CA PCIP, you have been removed. Your payment that was processed in May 2013 represented your final payment for the CA PCIP program. That May payment paid for your coverage through June 2013. Your failure to respond to the enrollment materials will render you without health insurance coverage effective July 1, 2013. So, please give this your immediate attention to avoid being uninsured.
As your broker having limited access to your specific enrollment instructions, we are sending this email as a reminder to act now. We hope that this information is helpful. We will be contacting you again via email in October 2013 to discuss your options that will be available to you in 2014. This will be one more transition for you as we will all be subject to participation in our new health care system.
